Delphix integration with AppDynamics solves the modern challenges of SREs by provisioning root cause analysis environments for mission-critical applications on anomaly detection. This integration improves reliability and maintainability by producing full and virtual application states for immediate root-cause analysis. It automates the complex, expensive, and manual provisioning process. Therefore, the workflow is completed in minutes while security and governance expectations are maintained. While AppDynamics is monitoring the consumption and usage of provisioned datasets, Delphix is anonymizing sensitive data through its flexible masking algorithms.

For more information, refer to AppDynamics Marketplace.

Technical Architecture

The “Delphix integration with AppDynamics” can identify an alert that triggers the creation of a virtualized and masked database. The solution begins with AppDynamics identifying an alert that starts a pre-engineered workflow in another system (for example, creating a Jira ticket). For each problem or incident, AppDynamics creates a ticket in Jira or any other ticketing tool. Changing the Jira ticket status from one state to other initiates a Jenkins job that spins up a complete application stack with Delphix.

Configuration Directions

Prerequisites

  • AppDynamics: SaaS or On-prem installation
  • Jira, Jira ITSM, ServiceNow, Jenkins, or another orchestration tool
  • Delphix Data Control Tower (DCT)

Procedure

  1. Standup the above environments.
  2. Configure integrations between each component.
    1. The connection to DCT (Data Control Tower) is enabled through DCT’s APIs. For more information about DCT, refer to DCT documentation.

Support

This integration follows the Community support standards detailed in our Delphix Open Source Community Guidelines. If you need help or assistance configuring the Delphix and AppDynamics solution, please submit a question on our Delphix Community Portal.
